Scotland vs Ireland Boxing 2026 — Southpaw at the International Double Header

Two days. Two venues. Two national teams. And another important weekend for some of the best young amateur boxers in Scotland and Ireland.

The Scotland vs Ireland international double header — Back to Back: Next Generation — takes place on Saturday 12 September in Glasgow and Sunday 13 September in Dalkeith.

Southpaw will be at the Sunday fixture in Dalkeith, spending the day around the fighters, coaches, clubs and families who continue to drive amateur boxing forward.

That is exactly where we want to be.

A Summer of Amateur Boxing

For Southpaw, this weekend feels like another chapter in what has already been a remarkable year inside the boxing community of the British Isles.

In June, we attended the 2026 Four Nations Boxing Championships at Ravenscraig in Motherwell — 300+ nationally selected fighters from Scotland, England, Ireland and Wales. We sold 204 pairs.

Three weeks later, we crossed the Irish Sea for the 2026 Monkstown International Box Cup at the National Stadium in Dublin — 178 clubs, 10 countries. Another 158 pairs sold, with White, Black, Red and Blue all selling out.

Now Scotland and Ireland meet again. Different event. Different setting. Same grassroots boxing community.

And some familiar names are back in action. Macie O’Connor of Cabra Boxing Club — named Best Female Boxer at the 2026 Monkstown International Box Cup — is part of the Ireland squad for both days, facing Eva Hynd in Glasgow and Jenna Daily in Dalkeith. That progression — from national award to international fixture — is exactly what these competitions are built for.

Also returning from Monkstown: Andrew Nugent and Amy Joyce, both part of the Ireland squad across the weekend.
